2023 Color of the Year Trends and How to Use Them in Your Home
At the end of each year, Pantone, Benjamin Moore, and Sherwin-Williams announce their color of the year. These colors tend to set the way for trends in interior design for the upcoming year.
Below we share what each of these colors are and how you can easily incorporate them into your home!
Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore’s 2023 Color of the Year is Raspberry Blush, which is a vivacious shade of coral tinged with pink, Raspberry Blush enlivens the senses with an electric optimism. This color choice pulls toward bold, warm hues. This bright orange-red shade can easily be incorporated into your home by painting a statement wall or through simple home decor items, such as throw pillows and bedding.
Pantone
Pantone’s 2023 Color of the Year is Viva Magenta, which can be best described as brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative. This color choice pulls toward bright, cooler hues.
Viva Magenta is a bold color but it can be incorporated in your interior in multiple ways. For a bold statement you can opt for a magenta feature wall or sofa. But it can also be added as a pop of color through curtains, rugs, pillows, or flowers. Viva Magenta certainly adds a warm and dramatic tone to any room of the house.
Sherwin Williams
Sherwin-Williams’s 2023 Color of the Year is Redend Point, which offers warmth and intrigue, as a rich blush-beige color.
Redend Point is a soft, soulful color that is very diverse. This mauve pink color can work as a warm neutral base for a room, or you can pair it with cooler colors, and then it will add a warm color accent to your interior. This color is neutral enough to paint an entire room without it overpowering the space, but still vibrant enough to include as an accent color on walls, decor, and furniture.
How to Add 2023 Color of the Year Trends into Your Home
Keep reading to learn affordable and easy ways to incorporate these trending colors into your home’s decor.
- Update Your Bedding: Updating your bedding is probably one of the easiest ways to transform the look and feel of a bedroom. You can easily switch out your blankets and pillows to give your room a fresh, new look.
- Add a Splash of Color with an Accent Wall: Adding in a pop of color on an accent wall will instantly brighten up any space – especially with this year’s color trends. A bit different than painting an entire room, painting just one can immediately command attention to one area of the space.
- Add a Splash of Color with a Rug: One of our favorite ways to incorporate these new, bold colors is to add in an accent rug. In doing so, you can easily update the look of your space without having to change the decor you already have.
- Hang New Artwork: Hanging new artwork is a smart way to add color to walls without having to change the overall decor. Adding a pop of one of these trending colors on the wall with a new statement piece of artwork is just the way to go.
- Add in Accent Pieces of Decor: Add some throw pillows to your space in one of these trending colors, or better yet, a statement piece! A club chair or sofa provides the perfect pop of color, instantly updating your space, but without the commitment of painting an entire room. All of the colors this year pair well with neutrals, light colors, and dark hues.
- Paint a Piece of Furniture: Update a piece of furniture with one of these hues. Especially if you have a piece that has served your home well for many years, but simply becomes outdated or in need of new coat of paint. What better way to incorporate one of these colors into your space by painting one of these pieces.
These Colors of the Year bring brightness and positivity to any space. More designers are moving away from an entirely neutral color palette and choosing shades that exude joy.
